Happy Birthday Hugo

Here are some pictures of cupcakes I made for Hugo's birthday.

I just got the Cricut Cake Mini the other day and played around with it.  My first impression of the Cricut is that it's very handy.

I especially like that you can queue up different designs and do other things while waiting for the Cricut to finish your work for you.  The cuts aren't always perfect but what is?

As The Hammer always says, "It's the little imperfections that make the whole project perfect."

I made these flower decorations with fondant.  Some will use gumpaste, which I'll have to try next time, but I went with fondant for these cupcakes.  Also, fondant generally tastes better than gumpaste.

Mini Cookie Sandwiches

Cookies are, by far, my favorite baked goods.  But sometimes just a cookie seems too plain for an event.  I think these would be perfect for any event.

These are good old fashioned chocolate chip cookies with a light strawberry buttercream filling, made with fresh strawberries.

Happy Valentine's Day

Everyone has different ideas of how to spend a Valentine's Day with their loved ones.  However, I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination to think that one way to end the perfect Valentine's Day is to enjoy some delicious chocolate dipped strawberries in front of a fire.

I combined those three elements of chocolate, strawberries, and fire into one dessert.  This is a chocolate cupcake, topped off by a chocolate buttercream and a strawberry that I flambéd.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Green Tea Roll?

Sushi restaurants have the weirdest names for their sushi rolls. Dragon Roll, Ninja Roll, Dynamite Roll, Spicy Surf Rider, etc...  I can't think of one just yet for this so I'm going with Green Tea Roll for now.

I made this for my family's Christmas dinner.  We decided to go pot luck this year and every member is bringing what they want to eat.  Naturally, for my dad, this means sushi and sashimi.  This inspired me to make these desserts to go with that theme.

It's a rolled up green tea sponge cake, filled with a white chocolate buttercream.  It's topped off in orange nonpareils to emulate roe.  Complete with a dark chocolate dipping sauce, taking place of the traditional soy sauce and wasabi.

Merry Christmas!

Baby Shower Order

Couple weeks ago, we had an order for mini desserts for a baby shower.

Here are some pictures from that event.

Imaginate only provided the desserts.  The layout was done by Jane: An Event Design & Coordination Co.

We'd like to thank Jane: An Event Design & Coordination Co. for the opportunity and for providing us with these pictures.

Triple Salted Caramel Mini Cupcakes

Did a test bake on a salted caramel mini cupcakes today for a baby shower later in the week.
It came out good.  The buttercream has a nice balance of sweet caramel and salt.  The cupcake is filled with a caramel syrup in the middle.  Therefore, a Triple Salted Caramel Mini Cupcake.
